Oishii Sushi Bar - true to its name, oishi desu ne!

Another one from the archives... photos from a visit in December 2006.

I had heard good reviews about this place, which was recently opened. A friend of mine took the photos for the menus (the chef/owner is a school friend of his) and my sister (who also knows this photographer friend) did a bit of proof reading for the text. So when it came up as a suggestion for a meal with some friends, I voted yes to trying it out.

In short, I thought the food was pretty awesome. Nice flavours, good presentation, and the price is reasonable. Great meal.

Address: Shop 2/70 Pinelands Rd Sunnybank Hills
Phone/fax: 3423 7774
Parking: off street parking available - can fill up quickly during busy periods (eg meal times, since there are a few other eateries in this complex all sharing the same small car park)

We turned up for dinner on a Saturday night, and the place looked pretty busy. Guess the buzz was alive and well. I ran into some of my rellies who were finishing up their dinner - my cousin's Japanese wife gave the food a thumbs up, so that's a good sign!

Here's what we had - descriptions/names are a bit patchy because it was a while ago and the photo I took of the menu was too blurry to read...

Omu-yakisoba - Japanese fried noodles wrapped in omelet
Takoyaki - deep fried octopus balls
Top: can't remember, maybe something with teriyaki chicken?
Bottom: I think this was the spider roll (tempura soft shelled crab)
Black Dragon (eel) and Red Dragon (salmon)
Tempura prawn sushi?
Green tea ice cream
Deep fried ice cream

Time of visit: Dinner, December 2006
With: SWANS
Trivia: The owner of this Japanese restaurant is from Indonesia
